Greenwich House Welcomes City Council Speaker Christine Quinn

On May 21st, seniors and staff members from the Judith C. White Senior Center were honored by a visit from City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. While we are always happy to see Ms. Quinn, who frequently drops in at Greenwich House and other businesses in her district, her presence on the 21st was far more important than a casual visit.
On that day, she wanted to assure seniors that it is one of her top priorities to avoid the drastic budget cuts for senior services proposed by the Mayor in his city budget. The visit also allowed our seniors to speak with Ms. Quinn about the importance of the Center in their lives and how Greenwich House provides valuable programs and services – particularly catering to our members’ interests and backgrounds in the performing and visual arts by providing a wide range of art-related activities and cultural trips. This is in addition to the myriad of vital health, fitness & well-being services.
We want to thank Speaker Quinn for her visit and more importantly, for understanding the need to maintain critical funding for this unique senior program. With the City Council Speaker’s support behind us, we can continue enriching the lives of neighborhood seniors.
