Designed especially for young children, our unique programs take place in a loving and stimulating environment. Located in a historic Greenwich Village townhouse, Greenwich House Music School offers a nursery program for 3-year-olds during the academic year.
Located in our historic town house, the Music School offers a nursery program for 3-year-olds
during the school year. Music Art and Play is three mornings a week and is a great first school experience for young children. Our program is an early childhood class located in the music school and though we are not a full nursery school, children enjoy a rich curriculum of music, visual art, free play, emergent literacy and use of our garden. Teachers at Greenwich House Music School are creative, nurturing and experienced. We believe in providing a safe and inspiring atmosphere where children can feel comfortable and free to meet their own potential. We also believe it is important for children to have an intimate environment in their first school years while forging their earliest relationships outside of their immediate families. Ultimately, we strive to build a community in which children have the opportunity to socialize with teachers and peers alike while enjoying a variety of hands-on activities.
Our Medley of the Arts Summer Camp for 3- and 4-year-olds; and an afternoon session for 2-year-olds. During their time with us, children participate in a wide variety of activities, including: music, movement, art, dress-up, story-telling, plus water play and planting in our wonderful tree-shaded garden.

Registration is ongoing at Greenwich House Music School. Phone (212) 242-4770 for information.
What some of our parents have to say about our programs:
"My daughter, Sophia, now age 11, blossomed as a shy, reticent three-year-old in the Music, Art and Play program at Greenwich House Music School. Three mornings a week were perfect for her to develop the ability to separate and socialize with other children. She began to appreciate and actively participate in the arts in a supportive, loving and nurturing environment. Sophia met her 'best friend' at Greenwich House Music School and experienced her first taste of independence. Sophia adores Elizabeth, Gisella and Mimi and continues her study of music and art thanks, most of all, to these three talented and loving people. In my opinion, there is no finer nursery school program in New York." - Tami Coyne
"Greenwich House Music School is a hidden gem in the West Village. The Music Art and Play program for three-year-olds is perfect as it provides a creative and nurturing environment where kids can have fun and grow in a warm and safe setting. I feel so lucky to have found such an incredible place for my kids. It is like a second home to them." - Jennifer Economou
"The Music Art & Play program at the Greenwich House Music School has been a wonderfully warm, nurturing and stimulating place for our son Jacob. Under the extraordinary guidance of his teachers, Jacob has made great friends and has learned many social skills. Through the program's top notch music and art instruction, Jacob's creativity has flourished. We are thrilled. We urge parents to consider Music, Art & Play as a welcome alternative to other high-pressure preschool programs. They will be happy they did! " - Michele Seiden
"The 'Nursery Program' for three-year-olds offered at Greenwich Music School is, in my opinion, the best, the most fun, and the most nurturing three-mornings-a-week program in the city. Each day children enjoy music, art, stories, and activities. In the warmer months, children play in the beautiful garden, which contains a sandbox and miniature wood house. Students are led by Elizabeth Hershon, a talented artist and early childhood teacher. Elizabeth creates unique hands-on experiences which introduce children to a wide variety of art materials. In music, children are taught by the talented and lovely Mimi Hsu, where movement (walking, running and skipping) is an integral part of learning music using the Dalcroze method. It is a truly wonderful and fun way of absorbing music for three-year–olds." - Tatjana Kalini
