Residencies/Internships
Greenwich House Pottery strives to make classes available for as many students as possible by maintaining low tuition, and by offering residency and internship opportunities.
Resident Artist Program Summer Internship Program
RESIDENT ARTIST PROGRAM The two-year studio residency is an ideal opportunity for a developing artist who is looking for a place to pursue focused work while gaining important technical and teaching skills.
Applicants should be enthusiastic and dedicated to their artwork, enjoy working with other people in a community studio setting and have working knowledge of the ceramic medium. Previous experience working in a ceramics studio is strongly preferred.
Resident Artists work 15 hours per week loading and firing kilns, making clay and glazes, unloading material deliveries and performing other duties.
They also assist with the production of fundraising events and are often asked to offer technical or creative advice to students.
Resident Artists receive 24-hour access to a shared private studio space and Pottery’s premises at large. All stocked materials and firings are free of charge. Resident Artists are also eligible for free enrollment in classes and workshops throughout the year.
A comprehensive description of the residency program will be provided upon request. Please call the Pottery office for information about next deadline and RA openings, (212) 242-4106.

The summer internship program offers developing artists short-term work experience in Pottery’s studio or arts administration areas.
Interns assist with a variety of hands-on projects -- from studio-oriented tasks including kiln-firing and mixing clay…to facility repairs such as painting…to administrative and gallery-related projects.
Interns learn about the day-to-day operations of a thriving community-based arts organization and are given the chance to pursue their ceramic work.
Internships are generally scheduled from August 1 through September 10, during which time the interns have access to a shared studio space. All stocked materials and firings are available free of charge.
Applications deadline: April 15 for the coming summer Required materials: resume, 15-20 digital images, letter of interest, two references and SASE.
