Our Studios

Greenwich House Pottery is located in an historic, 3 story brick building at 16 Jones Street in Greenwich Village. Built in 1928, it was designed by the firm Delano and Aldrich which also designed the main Greenwich House building at 27 Barrow Street.
Studios and Materials: GHP is equipped with 2 hand-building classrooms, 2 throwing classrooms, 28 wheels, 2 gas kilns, 4 electric kilns, a slab roller, clay mixer, pug mill, two extruders, and a spray booth. We offer 5 clay bodies: white stoneware, throwing stoneware, sculpture stoneware, red earthenware, and we sell porcelain for $18 per 25-pounds. We have a large selection of glazes (20 high temperature and 17 low temperature), slips and washes, and offer both high and low temperature firing (cone 04, cone 2, & cone 10). We offer open studio time for students to work on their own.
Galleries: GHP has 2 sun-lit galleries, the Jane Hartsook Gallery and The Storefront in which we display the work of emerging and established ceramic artists. Library: A book and slide library–one of the most extensive in the nation–that is open throughout the year to Greenwich House Pottery students.
Opportunities: Greenwich House Pottery is committed to supporting emerging artists by providing residencies and internship opportunities. These programs provide both valuable work experience and a supportive environment in which to explore ideas in clay.
