Greenwich House Announces Leadership Transition

Greenwich House, a non-profit dedicated to providing critical health and human services, and arts and educational programs, announced today that Darren Bloch has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, and the Greenwich House’s Board of Directors has appointed Laura Langner, Chief Program Officer, as interim CEO. Mrs. Langner will continue to serve as CPO during this interim period.

The Board will engage in a comprehensive search process for the organization’s next leader.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Chair Myrna Chao said, “I want to thank Darren for his dedication and the remarkable contributions he has made to Greenwich House over the past six years. His leadership was instrumental in guiding our organization through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, expanding vital funding to help us service more than 20,000 New Yorkers each year, managing the merger of two storied NYC social service organizations, and introducing innovative programs to our neighbors in Greenwich Village and across the city. We wish him the best in the future.”

“It has been a true honor to lead Greenwich House and be a part of this 127 year legacy of service to neighbors, community, and our City,” said Mr. Bloch. “I am deeply proud of the accomplishments we’ve had along the way and feel privileged to have worked alongside an amazingly dedicated group of team members, board members, partners, and supporters, who brought their passion, care and smarts to every challenge at hand. I look forward to seeing how they continue to serve and support the many communities across Greenwich House – and cheerleading their efforts every step of the way.”
