SUMMARY:Person Place Thing with Randy Cohen
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Latin Grammy-award winning artist and 2024 Uncharted alum\, Mireya Ramos! \nPerson Place Thing is an interview show based on the idea that people are especially engaging when they speak\, not directly about themselves\, but something they care about. Guests talk about one person\, one place\, and one thing with particular meaning to them. \nRandy Cohen’s first professional work was writing humor pieces\, essays\, and stories for newspapers and magazines (The New Yorker\, Harpers\, the Atlantic\, Young Love Comics). His first television work was writing for “Late Night With David Letterman” for which he won three Emmy awards. His fourth Emmy was for his work on Michael Moore’s “TV Nation.” He received a fifth Emmy as a result of a clerical error\, and he kept it. For twelve years he wrote “The Ethicist\,” a weekly column for the New York Times Magazine. He is currently the creator and host of Person Place Thing\, a public radio program. \n \nMireya Ramos is a New York-based Latin Grammy-winning (and multiple Latin Grammy and Grammy-nominated) vocalist\, musician\, composer\, producer\, arranger and founder of Flor de Toloache – New York’s only all women mariachi. Ramos embodies all of her musical influences whether classical\, mariachi\, salsa\, merengue\, or hip-hop\, always creating a unique and refreshing sound. Her versatility\, natural improvisational skills and beautiful tone has made her one of the top Latin artists in New York City. Her latest album\, Sin Fronteras\, recorded in Kansas City in collaboration with over twenty-five musicians and a fusion of Americana\, country\, and Rancheras was a true testament to the innovations and the creative freedom she expresses.
