Photo: courtesy of the artist. \nWansoo Kim: Vessels\nArtist Talk | November 4\, 2022 | 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.\nIn-Person Reception | November 4\, 2022 | 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.\nExhibition on view through December 16\, 2022 \nThe Jane Hartsook Gallery is pleased to present a solo show by Wansoo Kim. In his New York City debut\, Kim joins traditional and contemporary vessel forms with unconventional ornamentation to encourage us to think about metaphysical dichotomies such as what is visible versus invisible\, internal versus external\, and known versus unknown. Kim inverts what would typically be the inside and the outside of the vessels by embellishing the interiors with hand-painted designs or high reliefs. These designs draw in the viewer\, while the height and narrowness of the vessels restrict full access to them\, reminding us to think about what we choose to withhold or divulge in our lives and how much of the world around us is beyond our perception. \n  \nKim is a Tennessee-based artist who earned his MFA from the University of Nebraska and his BFA from Seoul National University of Science and Technology. Recent solo exhibitions include Watkins College of Art at Belmont University (Nashville\, TN; 2022)\, The New Gallery at Austin Peay State University (Clarksville\, TN; 2021)\, and E. Bronson Ingram Studio Arts Center (Nashville\, TN; 2020). He is an assistant professor of ceramics at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville\, Tennessee.

The exhibit returned in November 2022 after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. \nArt is on display until January 20. DESCRIPTION:Fader -Gendron-Haas Trio \nSun\, December 18\, 2022\, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. \nGreenwich House Music School Theater \nTicket are $20 – $25 online at the door \n  \nMelody and Company Chamber Series Presents the Fader-Gendron-Haas Trio in an evening of music by Beethoven and Shostakovich. After the concert we will have a reception with wine\, cheese\, as well as Chanukah gelt and dreidels (it will be the first night of Chanukah\, so depending on who shows up and wants to participate\, we can do more\, or less to celebrate the holiday\, as well as the music!) \nProgram: \nLudwig von BEETHOVEN: Piano Trio no. 3 in C minor\, op. 1 no 3 \nDmitry SHOSTAKOVICH: Piano Trio no. 2 in E minor\, op. 67 \n  \nThe Fader-Gendron-Haas Trio (F-G-H Trio) \nMelody Fader\, Piano \nEmilie-Anne Gendron\, Violin \nMichael Haas\, Cello \nWe ask the audience members stay masked during the concert\, and please do not attend if you are feeling unwell. If weather permits\, the reception will take place outside in the garden\, but we may hold it indoors\, in which case\, masks can be taken off during the reception.
