SUMMARY:Earth Day with Clay
DESCRIPTION:Earth Day with Clay A Free Community Event by Greenwich House Pottery\nin Washington Square Park! \n\nA century-old Greenwich Village nonprofit ceramic studio brings Earth Day to life with hands-on clay activities rooted in creativity\, sustainability\, and community. All activities are free and open to everyone. \n\n🌿 Tabletop Clayscape Add your mark to a living\, growing sculpture. Our Tabletop Clayscape is a collaborative clay landscape inspired by the natural world—participants contribute individual pieces to a shared installation that evolves throughout the day. At the end of the event\, all clay is returned to our studio to be recycled and used again by our students\, closing the loop on a truly sustainable creative practice. \n\n🦋 Milkweed-seed Potmaking Make something beautiful—and plant it. Visitors will craft clay-based seed pots using milkweed seeds\, supporting monarch butterfly habitat restoration. Take your creation home and put it in the ground\, carrying the spirit of Earth Day well beyond the event and connecting art-making to environmental stewardship. \n\n☀️ Solar-Powered Wheel Demonstrations Equipment permitting Watch clay come to life on the wheel. Our professional teaching artists will conduct recurring wheel-throwing demonstrations using a tabletop pottery wheel powered by solar energy—a small but meaningful reflection of the values at the heart of our programming. Stop and watch\, ask questions\, and see sustainable art-making in action. \n\nAll are welcome\, free of charge. Stop by our table in just north of Washington Square Park at \nGreenwich House Center on the Square at 20 Washington Square North \nto learn more about classes\, events\, and programs at Greenwich House Pottery. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Uncharted '26: Night 1
DESCRIPTION:Rhythms of Resilience: Featuring Jacquelene Acevedo & Audry Funk \nJacquelene Acevedo \n\n \nInstagram\nShow Description: \nFor her Uncharted performance\, Jacquelene steps out as a band leader for the first time\, presenting Dreamers and Computers\, an exploration of the relationship between the temporal and the eternal in time and rhythm\, and how those forces intersect with death and artistic rebirth. Drawing from drumming\, voice\, dance\, and visual art\, she moves through themes of loss and grief while honoring the audacity of life to remain gorgeous and even hilarious in the face of it all. \nBio: \nMeet Jacquelene Acevedo\, the multi-percussionist powerhouse who’s redefining the field with her dynamic beats and electrifying performances. Known for her musicality\, sensitivity\, power and passion\, Jacquelene is the heartbeat behind some of the most thrilling musical experiences of our time.  \n She has performed on Saturday Night Live\, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon\, The View\, PBS\, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\, the GRAMMYS\, and Bad Bunny. She is also a 2021 TONY Award recipient for the stage production of the critically-acclaimed Broadway show by the same name. She performed with David Byrne acting\, dancing\, and singing in addition to playing 10 percussion instruments. \nTrained in theater\, dance\, and music\, she brings a multi-faceted artistic approach to her work\, blending technical excellence with creative expression. Widely recognized for her work as a sought-after sideperson\, her participation in the Uncharted residency marks an important step in honing her voice and developing a project as a leader. \n  \nAudry Funk \n \n \nInstagram\nShow Description: \nAudry Funk and the NYC Music Family present an evening of Audry’s original music\, performed for the first time with a live backing band and special arrangements by Latin GRAMMY Award–winner Felipe Fournier. The program blends reggaetón\, cumbia\, and rap\, tracing Audry’s musical journey from Puebla\, Mexico to New York City while layering rhythm\, storytelling\, and her bold Puebla–York sensibility. \nBio: \nKnown as Audry Funk\, Audry Bustos Díaz is a singer-songwriter\, MC\, and activist born in Puebla\, Mexico. These artists are central to New York City’s vitality and identity\, yet they often face systemic barriers to sustained investment in career development. Uncharted aims to shift that dynamic.  \nTonight’s performances are the culmination of work developed during the Elebash Artist Residency\, held at the School over the past several months.  \nLearn more about Uncharted and the Elebash Artist Residency here. \n\n\nSponsors\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program is supported\, in part\, by public funds from The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature. \nThe Uncharted Residency Program is made possible by The Baisley Powell Elebash Fund.
