Khalil Jannah
Pronouns: he/him
Khalil Jannah is a 25-year-old ceramic artist based out of Philadelphia, known for his monumental wheel-thrown vessels and the development of the Wetlock Method—an innovative technique for large-scale ceramic construction. With a background in sociology, he is entirely self-taught in large-scale throwing, having developed his methods through years of independent experimentation and refinement.
Following his year-long residency at Northern Clay Center, he was invited to be one of only 11 international ceramic masters—and the youngest ever—to attend the prestigious Jingdezhen International Ceramic Residency in China. His sculptures are defined by dramatic proportions, narrow waistlines, and seamless structural transitions that push the technical boundaries of clay. Khalil currently teaches at studios across Philadelphia, Newark, and Manhattan, and has created large quantities of custom functionalware for high-end restaurants. He is currently preparing to break the world record for the tallest wheel-thrown ceramic sculpture—targeting a 25-foot vessel.
