SUMMARY:Uncharted: Jaime Lozano
DESCRIPTION:  \nGreenwich House Music School is pleased to present Jaime Lozano in its annual Uncharted Concert Series\, part of the Baisley Powell Elebash Artists in Residence Program.\nDoors open at 7:30 p.m.\n \nWebsite / Facebook / Instagram\nAs a shy child growing up in Monterrey\, Mexico\, Jaime Lozano discovered his voice through music. His passion for music led him to New York City\, where he not only learned English but also experienced true diversity. It was on Broadway that he found a creative family—fellow Latinos who collaborated and supported one another through their shared experiences. From this community\, Jaime Lozano and the Familia was born\, a project inspired by the talented artists around him who lacked opportunities to share stories about the immigrant experience. Determined to change that\, Jaime began writing those stories himself. The result is Songs by an Immigrant\, a project that captures the realities of Latino expats while exploring universal themes of alienation\, dreams\, and the struggle to build a life far from home. \nUncharted\, now in its eleventh year\, has been an invaluable resource for New York-based musicians to develop original material\, foster new collaborations\, and premiere first-look projects in an intimate concert setting.

SUMMARY:Uncharted: Excelsis Percussion
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nGreenwich House Music School is pleased to present Excelsis Percussion in its annual Uncharted Concert Series\, part of the Baisley Powell Elebash Artists in Residence Program.\nDoors open at 7:30 p.m.\n \nWebsite / Facebook / Instagram\nExcelsis Percussion—comprising Mariana Ramirez\, Britton René-Collins\, Aya Kaminaguchi\, and Marcelina Suchocka—is a quartet of classically trained percussionists hailing from diverse backgrounds. They come from different parts of the world\, speak various languages (English\, Spanish\, Japanese\, Polish)\, and work across a wide range of spaces\, from orchestral settings to experimental theater. Despite their differences\, they come together to create a unified voice\, collaborating to understand how their individual expressions can fit into a collective whole. Even when words fall short\, they communicate through gesture\, rhythm\, and musical ideas\, with rhythm itself serving as their universal language. \nFor Uncharted\, Excelsis Percussion will present their environmental justice project\, Rooted in Rhythm\, an immersive 360-degree concert experience that places the performers directly within the audience. For this performance\, they will experiment with electronics and found objects\, to merge works by contemporary composers with the sounds of nature—chirping birds\, croaking frogs\, and dripping rain. Each performance is shaped by its unique setting\, ensuring that no two experiences are alike. Attendees can expect to be enveloped in the act\, drawn into a dynamic dialogue between sound\, space\, and environment. \nUncharted\, now in its eleventh year\, has been an invaluable resource for New York-based musicians to develop original material\, foster new collaborations\, and premiere first-look projects in an intimate concert setting.

SUMMARY:Uncharted: Bryan Vargas
DESCRIPTION:Greenwich House Music School is pleased to present Bryan Vargas in its annual Uncharted Concert Series\, part of the Baisley Powell Elebash Artists in Residence Program.\nDoors open at 7:30 p.m.\n \nFacebook / Instagram\nBryan Vargas\, a native New Yorker with Puerto Rican roots\, has spent his entire life immersed in the vibrant\, ever-evolving music scene of the city. Vargas spent years honing his craft as a jazz guitarist\, but today his musical journey spans across genres and continents. Known for his versatility\, he seamlessly blends influences from cumbia\, Hungarian gypsy music\, Cuban rumba\, Latin jazz\, blues\, and beyond. \nWith his early ensemble\, Bryan Vargas y ¡Ya Está!\, he sought to forge deeper connections to his cultural heritage\, embracing the rhythmic\, danceable elements of Afro-Latin jazz. Over time\, his musical journey expanded as he collaborated with new artists and projects\, including serving as the original guitarist for the Afrobeat collective Antibalas and playing a key role in the Fela! musical and its subsequent tour. These experiences led him to discover his unique sound—a powerful blend of tradition and innovation in which he writes instrumental music with messages of resistance. \nAs Vargas explains\, “It comes down to how I identify myself. I live in New York City\, a place where I am influenced by everything but still am able to honor my traditions and identity. I’m not pressured to conform to generic Americana. I’m allowed to be me\, to share these collective experiences. And I feel like my music reflects that.” His work on the Uncharted stage will continue to explore the intersection of cultural heritage\, musical innovation\, and personal expression. \nUncharted\, now in its eleventh year\, has been an invaluable resource for New York-based musicians to develop original material\, foster new collaborations\, and premiere first-look projects in an intimate concert setting.

SUMMARY:Uncharted: Sirintip
DESCRIPTION:Greenwich House Music School is pleased to present Sirintip in its annual Uncharted Concert Series\, part of the Baisley Powell Elebash Artists in Residence Program.\nDoors open at 7:30 p.m.\n \nWebsite / Facebook / Instagram / X\nSirintip is a truly global artist whose work seamlessly merges diverse disciplines and cultures. Born and raised in Thailand\, she later moved to Sweden to study music. Eventually\, she made her way to New York\, where she established herself as an electronic-influenced alternative Jazz singer\, composer\, and producer. Describing herself as a “research artist\,” Sirintip is driven by an insatiable curiosity\, seeking to answer profound questions through her music. \nHer latest project\, Mycelium\, is an interdisciplinary suite performed by a nine-piece ensemble\, three dancers\, and visual projections. Sirintip spent two weeks aboard a research vessel in the North Pacific\, collaborating with scientists studying plankton and fungi. This immersive experience allowed her to draw fascinating connections between the microscopic world of microorganisms and the larger narratives of human society. In another project\, Carbon\, she explored the impact of environmental change by sampling plastic waste to create rhythmic tracks and translating NASA’s climate data into striking musical representations of global temperature rise. \nFor her Uncharted performance\, Sirintip is developing a piece that investigates how emotion is physically stored in the body. Her work continues to evolve\, blending art\, science\, and technology in ways that invite audiences to reconsider the world around them. \nUncharted\, now in its eleventh year\, has been an invaluable resource for New York-based musicians to develop original material\, foster new collaborations\, and premiere first-look projects in an intimate concert setting.

SUMMARY:Uncharted: Juntas Chicas
DESCRIPTION:Greenwich House Music School is pleased to present Juntas Chicas in its annual Uncharted Concert Series\, part of the Baisley Powell Elebash Artists in Residence Program.\nDoors open at 7:30 p.m.\n \nFacebook / Instagram\nTo build their community in New York\, Julia del Palacio and Claudia Valentina first had to travel to Mexico. It was in the campo in Veracruz\, immersed in nature and studying Son Jarocho\, that they truly came to understand the communal essence of the Fandango. This vibrant celebration\, a spontaneous fusion of musicians\, dancers\, and audience engaged in call-and-response\, became the cornerstone of their vision. It’s from this foundation that they began to build their sound—and community—bringing that energy back to the city\, forming Juntas Chicas. Today\, Juntas Chicas is shaped by the perspective of two women experimenting with the traditional forms and working in a genre long dominated by men\, influenced by collaborations with musicians from other genres that reflect the unique swirl of sounds in New York. \nExpanding the boundaries of Son Jarocho into a new century\, their Uncharted performance will continue to carry that dynamic energy to new spaces\, further expanding their community and pushing the evolution of the art form. \nUncharted\, now in its eleventh year\, has been an invaluable resource for New York-based musicians to develop original material\, foster new collaborations\, and premiere first-look projects in an intimate concert setting.

SUMMARY:Uncharted: Michela Marino Lerman
DESCRIPTION:Greenwich House Music School is pleased to present Michela Marino Lerman in its annual Uncharted Concert Series\, part of the Baisley Powell Elebash Artists in Residence Program.\nDoors open at 7:30 p.m.\nWebsite / Facebook / Instagram\n \nMichela Marino Lerman has been immersed in the art of tap dance since the age of five\, her journey shaped by some of the most influential masters of the craft. Her early performance experiences included dancing alongside Gregory Hines on Sesame Street while still in elementary school\, and she counts the legendary James “Buster” Brown among her mentors. As an honorary member of the Copasetics—a prestigious fraternity of tap dancers founded in 1949 in honor of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson—Lerman carries forward the rich legacy of tap in venues large and small\, from Jazz at Lincoln Center to her long-running jam session at Smalls. \nAs part of her Uncharted Residency\, Lerman will present Agape\, a performance exploring the concept of interdimensional love and the interconnectedness that stems from human understanding. Leading her group\, The Love Movement (featuring Russell Hall and Samir Langus)\, she fuses analog effects and digital samplers to engage in collective healing\, creating expressions of identity and joy as acts of resistance. Through her work\, Lerman continues to honor the tradition of tap while pushing its boundaries to explore new realms of creativity and connection. \nUncharted\, now in its eleventh year\, has been an invaluable resource for New York-based musicians to develop original material\, foster new collaborations\, and premiere first-look projects in an intimate concert setting.

SUMMARY:Holman Alvarez's Hidden Objects Album Release Concert
DESCRIPTION:Pianist/composer Holman Alvarez sees the world through a compositional lens. On his newest release\, Hidden Objects\, he leads an all-star band – Ralph Alessi on trumpet\, John Hébert on bass and Satoshi Takeishi on drums- through nine expressive\, serpentine compositions that reveal a unique musical worldview. In his playing\, there is a touching lyricism and forward-thinking harmony\, mixing warmth with the cerebral. And there are references to the Latin American rhythms and modern classical figures that are an innate part of Alvarez’s compositional and improvisational vocabulary.

SUMMARY:The Music of Alec Wilder in New York City
DESCRIPTION:An Annual Celebration of the Life and Music of Alec Wilder \nFeaturing prominent NYC musicians performing the instrumental solo\, chamber music and songs of Alec Wilder. \nAlec Wilder successfully bridged a diversity of styles\, writing fresh\, strong\, and lyrical music for a myriad of musicians with significant careers and reputations. His oeuvre includes popular songs\, art songs\, instrumental sonatas\, chamber music works\, compositions for large ensembles\, opera\, film scores\, and theater pieces. It is a normal human impulse to want to categorize and label objects to assume that one has reached a clarity of comprehension and understanding. However\, such categorizations can often be simplistic or even misleading. Alec Wilder’s music is a product of his life philosophies mingled with the sounds of his time; whether popular\, jazz\, or concert music. His merging of musical styles and genres is not unlike several of his fellow Americans such as George Gershwin or Leona rd Bernstein. His songs may appear in NYC night clubs as well as on formal voice recitals\, and his instrumental ensemble works enhance university recitals across the nation. He inserts canons into his jazz pieces\, warm popular harmonies into his art songs\, and syncopated jazz rhythms into his classical movements. His sound is uniquely Alec Wilder and distinctly American. Wilder valued beauty\, aesthetic integrity\, decency\, virtue\, wonderment\, and patience and deplored any decline of such values. He stated\, “My concern is to transmute the very best of myself into disciplined\, loving\, and if possible\, witty and civilized sound. I am interested in only those manifestations of art which\, in my estimation\, emerge from a profound need to create and an absolute in sistence upon a professional point of view.” Trusting his intuitive creative inclinations and merging minimal traditional music studies with an absorption of the current musical trends of his time\, Alec Wilder was able to produce music that is distinctively his own in concept and sound\, a worthy achievement indeed.

SUMMARY:Reflections in Music: Blue-Tinged Classics
DESCRIPTION:  \nFeaturing clarinetist Narek Arutyunian\, violinist Deborah Buck\, and composer-pianist Bruce Wolosoff. \nThroughout history\, classical music has continually revitalized itself by embracing fresh ideas and exploring diverse influences. Blue-Tinged Classics celebrates this tradition\, highlighting how the soulful\, emotive qualities of the blues have inspired classical compositions\, creating music that is both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition \nBeginning with George Gershwin’s pioneering fusion of blues and jazz into classical forms\, this influence traveled to Paris with composers like Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy incorporating the blues into some of their music\, then it reflected back stateside to America in the work of composers like Aaron Copland. It continues to resonate today with composers like Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson\, who infuses blues into his violin music. \nThis program also features two world premieres: a new work by renowned film composer Carter Burwell\, and Blue Mantra\, the latest composition by Reflections’ artistic director Bruce Wolosoff\, inspired by a painting by Margaret Garrett.
