Centered and Creative: Teen Pottery Wheel Class at Greenwich House Chelsea Studio
Looking for a creative, immersive way for your teen to spend the last weeks of summer? The Summer Teen Wheel Intensive at Greenwich House Pottery’s Chelsea Studio offers a hands-on, screen-free activity that sparks creativity and builds confidence for young artists to dive deep into the world of ceramics—just before school starts up again.
Located at 80 Eighth Avenue in the heart of Chelsea, this two-week program is open to teens ages 14–17 and is perfect for both beginners and experienced young potters looking to sharpen their skills.
What Teens Can Expect
This is not your average art class. Led by professional teaching artists, the Teen Pottery program introduces students to both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. Over the course of the term, students will:
- Learn how to center and throw clay on the pottery wheel
- Explore surface design, glazing, and sculpture
- Create functional pieces like mugs, bowls, and plates
- Experiment with form and creative expression through clay
- Gain confidence in their skills—and pride in their finished work
No previous ceramics experience is required. Whether your teen is a total beginner or already dabbling in clay, our instructors will meet them where they are.
