Rachel Black becomes Director

Rachel Black became Director in 2013 and led the school through the COVID-19 pandemic until the present day.In 2014, Rachel re-started the public schooleducational programs with PS 3, PS 41 and NYC Museum School, and created community programs across Greenwich House programs such as Chorus, Ballet and Theater for Change, with the Greenwich House Older Adult Network. In 2020, along with the Little Mozart Foundation, she created early childhood music and dance programs for toddlers at Grand St. Settlement throughout the Lower East Side and Brooklyn, for hundreds of children annually. Along with Jennie Wasserman, she co-founded the Uncharted Concert Series and Artist Residency designed to help New York City musicians create new work. Past Uncharted series alums include Aaron Diehl, Celisse, Endea Owens, Mireya Ramos, Migguel Anggelo, Shaina Taub, and Riley Mulherkar. Since joining the Music School, Rachel has increased the number of produced events by 324%, along with an increased rental revenue of 334%, with over 7,000 audience members annually.
