Older Adult Artists Take Center Stage at Astor Place

Five artists from the Greenwich House Older Adult Network are being celebrated this fall in one of the city’s most visible public spaces: Astor Place Plaza. Presented in partnership with the Village Alliance as part of their Art in Plazas program, the installation features work by Ruth Conner, Adrienne Gyongy, Kris Jensen, Tadashi Mitsui, and Elisabeth Page Purcell, selected from over 70 submissions across Greenwich House’s four older adult centers.
Now in its second year, this collaboration showcases the creative contributions of older New Yorkers and underscores the role of public art in fostering inclusion, pride, and intergenerational connection. The exhibition features painting, collage, and mixed media—proving that creativity doesn’t fade with age; it evolves.
The installation will remain on view throughout the fall. If you’re passing through Astor Place, stop and enjoy the powerful work of artists who continue to shape the city’s cultural landscape—at every age.
