What are the key benefits of a Donor-Advised Fund?
- Simplicity: With a donor-advised fund, you enjoy hassle-free management, as the sponsor handles all record-keeping, disbursements, and tax receipts, allowing you to focus on your philanthropic goals.
- Flexibility: Donor-advised funds offer the unique advantage of separating your tax deductions from your charitable decisions, giving you control over both timing and impact.
- Tax Efficiency: Contributions are tax-deductible, and any investment growth within the fund is tax-free. Additionally, donating long-term appreciated securities is straightforward, helping you avoid capital gains taxes.
- Family Legacy: A donor-advised fund is an exceptional way to create or continue a family tradition of giving, empowering you to leave a meaningful legacy of philanthropy for future generations.
Planned Giving
Perhaps the most meaningful way to ensure the legacy of your generous spirit is through a bequest. By including Greenwich House in your will, you help sustain our vital services and programs for future generations to come.
There are several ways to include Greenwich House in your will (all options will help you reduce your estate taxes):
- Leave a specific dollar amount or a particular property
- Specify a set percentage of your estate
- Leave the remainder of your estate after providing for your heirs
Beneficiary Designation

The Mary Kingsbury Simkhovitch Legacy Society
The Mary Kingsbury Simkhovitch Legacy Society honors the enduring vision of our founder. In 1902, Mary Kingsbury Simkhovitch helped open the doors of Greenwich House, beginning her 44-year tenure as Executive Director. She envisioned the House as an integral, active part of neighborhood life, driving activism that addressed the most critical issues of the time—from services for immigrant families and seniors to programs focused on the arts and mental health. To ensure a second century of services that continue to address the greatest needs of our neighborhood and city, we honor Mary’s leadership with this society.
If you include Greenwich House as part of your estate or long-range financial plans—such as naming us in your will, as the beneficiary of a retirement plan, or in an insurance policy, you are eligible to become a member of the Mary K. Simkhovitch Legacy Society.
We acknowledge your thoughtful gesture with your name engraved on our beautiful Legacy Society plaque in the lobby of 27 Barrow Street. (Please note: this recognition is optional; you may remain anonymous if you choose).
