Kids Afterschool Wheel for Ages 10-13
Classes take place at 16 Jones St.
Kids Afterschool Wheel is a weekly pottery class for students ages 10–13 that builds both creative skill and focus through hands-on work at the potter’s wheel. In a calm, structured studio environment, students slow down, work with their hands, and engage deeply in the creative process—away from screens and daily distractions.
Through guided instruction, students learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing and glazing while developing patience, concentration, and confidence.

Building Focus Through Making
Working on the potter’s wheel requires sustained attention, problem-solving, and presence. This class supports students in developing focus and persistence as they move through the full ceramic process—from forming to glazing and firing.
The tactile, repetitive nature of clay encourages students to settle into the moment, offering a productive break from screen-based learning and fast-paced schedules.
Creative Skill Meets Personal Growth
Open to all skill levels, Kids Afterschool Wheel is well suited for students who have some prior exposure to clay and are ready to deepen both technical ability and creative independence. As students gain control over the wheel, they also build confidence, resilience, and a sense of accomplishment through creating functional and expressive ceramic work.
All tools, materials, glazing, and firing are included.
Designed for Growing Independence
Students meet weekly with their instructor and work independently in the studio. Participants may arrive on their own or with a guardian and will self-dismiss after class.
Please note: There is no walk-over service or childcare provided before or after class.
