Clay for Families Workshop

Looking for a family pottery class in Greenwich Village? Clay for Families is a hands-on pottery workshop designed for children ages 6 and up and the adults who care for them. This shared studio experience invites families to slow down, get creative, and work side-by-side exploring clay through simple handbuilding techniques.
In a welcoming, multigenerational studio environment, participants will learn foundational methods such as pinching, slab building, and coil construction—no prior experience required.

A Creative Experience to Share
Create cherished memories and embrace the joyful, messy side of making together in this two-hour workshop. With multiple generations working side-by-side, families are guided by skilled teaching artists who provide all tools, materials, and instruction.
Each participant will create their own ceramic piece. Finished work will be glazed and fired by Greenwich House Pottery staff and available for pickup in approximately three weeks.
Children must be accompanied by an adult during the class.

In a world filled with constant digital distractions, Clay for Families provides a welcome break from screens. The tactile nature of clay encourages focus, imagination, and problem-solving through touch, movement, and experimentation.
As families work with their hands, they engage fully in the moment—fostering creativity, patience, and presence. The result is not just a finished ceramic piece, but a shared experience rooted in attention, play, and creative exploration.
