Pottery Classes for Kids and Teens
Unleash your child’s creativity with our exciting Afterschool Children’s and Teen Pottery Classes. Located in the heart of Greenwich Village NYC, Greenwich House Pottery offers children and teens a welcoming and inspiring environment where young artists can explore, create, and express themselves through clay. Our dedicated instructors are not just teachers; they’re mentors who guide young minds through the magical journey of pottery making. From molding and shaping to glazing and firing, our classes cover it all, catering to beginners and budding artists alike.
AFTERSCHOOL CLASSES FOR CHILDREN
We are excited to be partnering with Village Kids to offer after-school programming for the 2024-25 academic year. Village Kids (a non-profit community based organization founded by PS 3 parents) will be offering afterschool classes on the 5th floor at 27 Barrow St. As a part of that programming, the following classes will be offered as a walk-over program at 16 Jones St. from 4:00-5:30 p.m. (Children must be dropped off at 27 Barrow, they will travel to and from 16 Jones St. as a group. Dismissal is from Jones St.
Class options follow:
Pottery 1 (Grades K-2) with Leah Floyd
Explore your creativity through clay in this beginner class. Students learn the basic hand-building and sculpture techniques plus how to paint and glaze their own pottery.
Pottery 2 (Grades 2-4) with Grace Fossett
Students will create work using a variety of hand-building techniques and will be asked to work both independently and as a group.
Pottery 3 (Grades 5-7) with Julie Knight
Pottery 3 is for students with prior experience who are sincerely interested in refining their pottery skills. This class encourages independent projects and introduces working on the wheel.

POTTERY CLASSES FOR TEENS
We will also offer our own programming on Monday afternoons for teenage students at 16 Jones Street. This weekly course offers teens a complete overview of the potter’s wheel and glazing. All firing and materials are included and tools are provided. The class is open to all skill levels, ages 12-17. Classes take place at 16 Jones St. Students meet with their instructor Mondays 3:30-5:30 p.m. Teens will arrive on their own and self-dismiss after class.

Children and Teen classes at 16 Jones Street will take place throughout the academic year in 2 sessions:
Fall: September 16 through December 16
12 meetings; classes do not meet on October 14, November 11
Winter/Spring: February 3 through June 16
16 meetings, classes do not meet on February 17, March 31, April 14, May 26
