Support the Greenwich House Girls Basketball League
The Greenwich House Girls Basketball League has offered young girls an opportunity to build confidence, learn teamwork and develop resilience on and off the court since 1995 (one year BEFORE the WNBA was founded!), thanks to the vision of local parent Harry Malakoff. When Harry couldn’t find basketball league for his 10-year-old daughter, he partnered with the Greenwich House Youth Council to offer space, support, and a home for what has grown into a thriving community of players, coaches, and families. Almost 30 years later, the Greenwich House Girls Basketball League (née Greenwich Village Girls Basketball League) is a true testament to collective community action.
Today, the league welcomes girls and non-binary youth ages 9-15, providing a fun, and an inclusive environment where players build confidence, learn teamwork, and develop lifelong skills. Greenwich House is proud to continue supporting this league by offering the resources needed to ensure every child has access to quality coaching, clinics led by Columbia Women’s Basketball, and all the equipment necessary to succeed on the court.
Your donation helps us sustain this vital program, providing youth with the opportunity to learn basketball fundamentals, participate in games, and enjoy special clinics.
